Article #20 in a Series >>>>> Departments and Offices of the Minneapolis Public Schools >>>>> Area Learning Center (After School Programs)

As I complete the advanced final draft of my new book, Understanding the Minneapolis Public Schools:  Current Condition, Future Prospect, I am conducting a final review for updating mission statements and staff composition.  I have in the last days and weeks listed and made comments on many offices and departments, with an emphasis on staff members and effectiveness.  In the current series of articles I will be emphasizing departmental function and mission statements, but I will give staff listing updates as I deem useful to my readers and will give staff composition in cases for which I have not previously done so.

The MPS Area Learning Center staff members oversee after school programming, credit recovery, and other services relevant to student enrichment and academic progress beyond the regular school day and conventional means of acquiring course credits.

Links at the MPS Area Learning Center portal of the MPS website provide information concerning the ALC calendar, Extended Day Programs, GEMS/GISE/STEM programming, community-based organizations, and student engagement.

Information pertinent to staff composition and other items posted on the pertinent portal of the MPS Area Learning Center (After School Programs) website are as follows:

Welcome to the Area Learning Center.  We hope you will use this site to explore additional education programs offered at Minneapolis Public Schools.  The Area Learning Center offers a variety of learning opportunities through our Extended Day Programs, Winter Break Session, Spring Break Session, Summer Session and Homeschooling.

Our primary goal is to help our students increase academic growth, recover credits, and explore career options that will lead to graduation and a brighter future beyond. We believe in your child.

In accordance with state law, Minneapolis Public Schools is required to ensure that all school-age children between the ages of 6 and 17 who live within the district's boundaries are being educated. Learn more about MPS homeschooling here.
