The following prompt for an ACT
practice writing test is taken from one of my older but still very useful ACT
preparation manuals >>>>>
Barron’s
Pass Key to the ACT (Happauge,
New York: Barron’s Educational Series,
Inc., 2004) , p.260.
Prompt:
Many high school history courses acquaint
students with societies both past and present.
English classes read and study many novels, stories, and plays that
portray life in other times and places.
Learning about other people and other eras, in fact, is an important
part of an education and often inspires students to imagine what it might be
like to live in another place and time.
If you were somehow actually given the opportunity
to lead your life in a place and time different from the here and now, would
you take it? If so, write an essay that
identifies your destination and cites the reasons for your choice. If not, write an essay explaining why you would
decline the offer.
