Exchanges of Mid-September 2021 with Star
Tribune Reporters and Columnists
September 10, 2022
Mara--
Over time, the entrenched threat
is the system that produces the societal ignorance that sustains Covid-19 and
the cyclical poverty that sends so many babies to early deaths---

Libor---
Only overhaul of K-12 education
will end the cyclical poverty and the conditions that result in the death of
these babies---
Bobby Joe is a friend but I have
called him out many times for his membership in the DFL/MFT/Education Minnesota
cohort that resists the needed changes---
and not a single reporter or
columnist at the >Star Tribune< cares---
With best wishes---

Mara & Anthony---
The real story is that
Operations (including Transportation) are relative strengths of MPS snd SPPS,
so that the abiding evanescent struggles represent lamentable fuss to transport
students to such academically insubstantial classrooms where in fact few
"high quality people" preside.
With best wishes---

Paul---
Your story on Judge Bowbeer's
ruling in the Koch & Sons case is reportorial journalism at its
best--- and deserved more prominent placement---
With best wishes---

Thanks Gary. You made my
day.

Paul---
On 9-11 we should remember the
4,600 lynchings in United States history between 1877 and 1965--- and the
contemporary metaphorical lynchings perpetrated by the Minneapolis Public
Schools that >Star Tribune< K-12 beat reporters dimly understand and in
any case lack the courage to convey---

Andy and Jeff---
Your article merely describes symptoms aggravated by the
dislocations of Covid and the furor around the murder of George Floyd.
Cyclical poverty is the context for violent expression of pent-up
frustrations; cyclical poverty will only end upon the overhaul of K-12
education and the propulsion of young people into the world prepared to live
this one earthly sojourn as culturally enriched, civically engaged,
professionally satisfied citizens---

Briana---
As we hope that the Peter Principle is not at work, note that
Robert Doty left a tangled mess behind smoke-and-mirrors budgeting, so that the
superlative Ibrahima Diop had to work long hours to achieve a structurally
balanced budget with ascending amounts in the reserve fund at the Minneapolis
Public Schools.

Myron---
I have worked 50 years with
children and families living at the urban core.
Call for an appointment and
prepare to check your ego at the door if you want to grasp the key vexations
and comprehend the parties foundationally responsible for cyclical poverty---

Lee---
Your article, as is your wont,
remains a safe distraction from the key vexations of K-12 education.
Although she became a sellout
apologist for the teachers sent forth from wretched teacher training
programs modeled on the
intellectually corrupt program at Teacher's College/Columbia University, Diane
Ravitch provides laudably cautionary information pertinent to private
enterprise involvement in K-12 education in her book, >Reign of Error<.
But then neither you nor anyone
at the >Star Tribune< cares---

Erin---
With
the Minneapolis Public Schools as salient example, the Department of Teaching
and Learning is a vast wasteland costing $3,000,000. Two other
departments, Office of Black Student Achievement and Department of Indian
Education, do not serve their intended functions while costing at least
$1,000,000 in aggregate. Four academically insubstantial associate
superintendents receive salaries totaling $600,000.
The
Department of Indian Education is legislatively mandated but could be slimmed
and redesigned for academic credibility; the other entities and positions
should be eliminated, freeing funds for professionalized bus drivers and staff
comfortable on the streets and in the homes of students from families
struggling with finances and functionality.
But
neither you nor anyone at the >Star Tribune< cares: A job is just a
job, a paycheck is just a paycheck, and whatever gets editorial approval
suffices as the system continued to sends the precious young to early deaths on
mean streets or to lives of psychic or physical incarceration---

best wishes---

Libor---
KIPP
has struggled to retain teachers (mostly mediocre) and fulfill the vision of
national founders. Along with Harvest Prep and Ascension, KIPP is
overrated as a Minneapolis Public Schools alternative.
These
schools sustain the cyclical poverty that will unconscionably keep you and Alex
in stories of lives ended prematurely until curriculum, teacher quality, and
outreach to families struggling with dilemmas of finances and functionality
overhauls the abiding wretched systems.
But
not a single reporter or columnist at the >Star Tribune< cares.

These
farcically dubbed RCEs, staffed by fewer than 10 academic lightweights at each
of six locations, including Sartell, tragi-comically are supposed to assist all
of the failing schools of Minnesota---
the
much more important story---

Graff is an academic lightweight with neither a bachelor's nor a master's
degree in an academic subject (this is true, too, for Joe Gothard). The
MPS Comprehensive Design is academically vacuous.
After
the understandable concern over the Covid crisis caused by the stupid citizenry
produced by the public schools, the abysmal quality of education at MPS will
sustain poverty at the urban core and keep Alex and Libor in story material for
all moons as far as prophetic eyes can see.
And
not a single reporter or columnist at the >Star Tribune< cares---
