A Note to My Readers >>>>>
In this article, I continue to provide glimpses of the abundant information that I
have compiled on the inner workings of the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) for
my book, Understanding the Minneapolis
Public Schools: Current Condition,
Future Prospect. In the course of these
next few days, I will continue to present mostly information and data from Part
One (Facts) of the book, with an emphasis on objective information; interspersed with these entries will from
time be analytical articles from Part Two (Analysis), in which I give my
interpretation of the objective information.
With this entry, I continue a series of
articles giving positions occupied and annual salaries received by staff in the
Davis Center (MPS central offices, 1250 West Broadway). I will for now reserve judgment as to which
occupants of these positions earn salaries consistent with their value to the
Minneapolis Public Schools. But in
articles to come, I will make such assessments, and in the meantime I invite my
readers to consider who most likely receives remuneration justifiable for
services rendered and which employees are those of the sort whom one inevitably
finds in both public and private bureaucracies, remunerated at levels far above
their actual value; also, readers should
consider those employees who are most likely expendable, especially as the
overhaul at the Minneapolis Public Schools induced by my book proceeds and
rocks this school district to its foundations.
Given in this article are those at the
Davis Center who receive between $40,000 and $50,000 in annual
remuneration; thirty-one (31) Davis
Center staff members receive annual salaries at that level:
