Minneapolis Public Schools Academic Proficiency Rates as Measured by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments for Mathematics, Reading, and Science

The bulk of students in the locally centralized school district of the Minneapolis Public Schools attend thirty-eight PK-5 elementary schools;  the middle schools (grades 6-8) of Andersen, Anthony, Anwatin, Franklin, Northeast, Olson, Sanford, and Justice Page;  the PK-8 schools of Elle Baker Global

Studies & Humanities and Sullivan STEAM Magnet School; and the eight mainline high schools of Edison, North, Henry, Roosevelt, South, Southwest, Roosevelt, and Washburn.  In addition, there are a number of alternative schools (either contracted or administered directly by the district proper), specialized programs, and special purpose schools.

Students in grades 3-8 are given the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments for reading and mathematics every academic year, typically in April.  Science MCAs are administered to students in grades 5 and 7.  High school students (grades 9-12) are given the reading MCA in grade 10 and the mathematics MCA in grade 11;  additionally, each high school student takes a science MCA in an academic year selected by the administration at each particular high school.

In articles numbers 2, 3, 4 and 5 below, academic proficiency rates for (the most recent) academic year 2022-2023 as measured on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments are given for reading, mathematics, and science at all elementary (PK-5) schools, middle (grades 6-8), and high schools (grades 9-12), as well as for many of the alternative schools and specialized programs of the Minneapolis Public Schools.

Article #1 gives Minneapolis Public Schools academic proficiency rates for academic Year 2022-2023 in the context of results statewide and for other school districts.
