A Note to My Readers:

 

In this fifth snippet from my nearly completed book, Understanding the Minneapolis Public Schools:  Current Condition, Future Prospect  I give you information pertinent to Minneapolis Federation of Teachers (MFT), the union that represents most teachers in the Minneapolis Pubic Schools.

 

Once affiliated solely with the National Education Association (NEA) the MFT now maintains that affiliation with the NEA but is also affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

 

In the book, now in advanced draft form and slated for completion very soon, I will have much to say about these national affiliations, the stances on education issues taken by the MFT, the influences that this union exercises over school board races, and the control that the organization maintains over members of the Minneapolis Public Schools Board of Education.   

 

For now, I present strictly objective information extracted from the MFT website.
