Note to My Readers >>>>>
In this and the next several articles as you scroll on down this blog, you will have a chance to see how many staff members at the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Davis Center (MPS central offices, 1250 West Broadway) fall into certain annual salary categories. This entry conveys the salaries of those receiving between $80,000 and $90,000 annually. Seventy-three (73) staff members fall into this category. The number of staff members making this amount is similar to that pertinent to the $100,000 and above category, which is seventy-seven (77); by contrast, the corresponding number for the $90-000 t0 $100,000 category is just thirty-seven (37).
Notable in the $80-000 to $90,000 category given immediately below is the appearance of a good number of office assistants with secretarial-type functions. Given that the median for teachers in the Minneapolis Public Schools is approximately $70,000 and that the median household income in the United States is approximately $63,000, these are extraordinarily well-paid office assistants, a category of workers who in the private sector and on college and university campuses make much less annual salary.
I am in the process of calculating current total staff at the Davis Center, which for many months had fallen to about 450, from about 650 soon after Interim Superintendent Michael Goar's departure in spring 2016. There now seems to have been considerable re-bloating of Davis Center staff, so that Superintendent Graff appears to be regressing in one of his few favorable performance categories; if excess re-staffing does persist, Graff, who has been a failure as an academic leader, will only be able to claim the very definite achievement of allowing brilliant Finance Chief Ibrahima Diop devise a structurally balanced budget.
Please proceed now to a review of Davis Center salaries in the $80,000 to $90,000 category and then, if you have not already done so, scroll on down to the next two articles giving those in the $90,000 to $100,000 and $100,00 and above categories.
