In this and the next several articles as you scroll on down this blog, you will have a chance to see how many staff members at the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Davis Center (MPS central offices, 1250 West Broadway) fall into certain annual salary categories.  This entry conveys the salaries of those receiving between $60,000 and $70,000 annually.  Fifty-eight (58) staff members The number pertinent to both the $70,000 to $80,000 and $80,000 to $90,000 is seventy-three(73).  The corresponding figures for staff in the $90,000 to $100000-plus categories are thirty-seven (37) and seventy-seven (77) respectively.


Given that the median annual salary for a teacher in the Minneapolis Public Schools is approximately $70,000, and that the median income for a family of our in the United States is approximately $63,000, the above given salaries in all categories very high, abominably so for those at $80,000 and above.    
 
I am in the process of calculating current total staff at the Davis Center, which for many months had fallen to about 450, from about 650 soon after Interim Superintendent Michael Goar's departure in spring 2016.  There now seems to have been considerable re-bloating of Davis Center staff, so that Superintendent Graff appears to be regressing in one of his few favorable performance categories;  if excess re-staffing does persist, Graff, who has been a failure as an academic leader, will only be able to claim the very definite achievement of allowing brilliant Finance Chief Ibrahima Diop devise a structurally balanced budget.
