Knowledge Deprived, Lives Denied
Gary Marvin Davison
There is a
world
they’ll
never know,
replete with
all that has
been,
all who have
lived,
all that
portends
what they
could
Be.
They’ll
never know the
Big Bang
Cosmos
Earth
single
cells,
multiple
cells,
plants growing,
creatures
crawling
in from the
sea,
Homo
habilis,
erectus,
neaderthalensis,
sapiens,
that very
name
asserting
the
Power of
Knowing
in order to
Be,
Humankind
domesticating
irrigating
propagating
thinking
creating
searching
Becoming,
For their
Becoming
is thwarted
by
Knowledge
not imparted
their
Cultural Inheritance
withheld.
Thus does
the
promise of
childhood,
the
Becoming,
end in
mean streets
tawdry
bars
prisons
places
where
Death
stakes an easy
claim
on those
without Knowledge,
for whom
life is
denied.
