Sunday, 14 June, Chapter Four, “The Big Trip, 1975-1976," >>>>> >A Teacher’s Journey from Southern Methodist University to North Minneapolis: Foundations for Overhaul of the Minneapolis Public Schools< >>>>> A Memoir >>>>> Gary Marvin Davison

At 6:30 PM in the evening, desert fowl clustered in a Joshua Tree Divinely planted in an oasis fed by underground springs.  Across the xeric landscape the arboreal wonder that names the monument gave definition to the terrain.  The birds varied in type and song, with rattle-chatter somehow melding with sweet cadences in vigorous vocalization perfectly pitched to allow crickets and frogs into the chorus.  Every once in a while, the vocalization would pause.  Barbara and I contributed the only human presence to the idyllic scene.  When the rattle-chatter and sweet intoning stopped for those brief, sublime moments, no sound could be heard.  Oasis green glimmered brightly in concordance with Phoebus’s concluding message.  The birds perched in silent serenity, Joshua’s animate statues.

Peace spoke wordlessly:

God’s Vision of the Good bequeathed to a pair so much in Love.
