Steinbach-Huther Deeply Culpable for Low Academic Proficiency Rates at Both
Middle Schools and High Schools of the Minneapolis Public Schools
The general pattern through academic years
2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 in the middle schools of the Minneapolis
Public Schools (MPS) has been the prevalence of low rates of academic
proficiency and failure to make any progress, even from such a low starting
point.
Associate Superintendent Carla
Steinbach-Huther has oversight duties for MPS middle schools, as she does for
the high schools that were reviewed for such low academic proficiency rates in
Article #1. Steinbach-Huther and building principals whom she supervises
must bear responsibility for the dismal academic results at the middle schools reviewed
in this article, wherein high percentages of African American, Hispanic, and
American Indian students and students on free or reduced price lunch fail to
achieve grade level proficiency; note
especially the performance of students at the middle schools of Anwatin,
Franklin, Northeast, and Olson.
