As we anticipate new figures on MCA results for spring 2018, everyone who cares about students of the Minneapolis Public Schools should realize that academic performance has been essentially flat but in many key demographic categories (notably, for example, African American and American Indian males) even declining for many years in a row. Given this miserable failure to fulfill the grandiose goals of the district's Acceleration 2020 Strategic Plan, and with insufficient programmatic initiatives (the Benchmark reading program and Multi-Tiered System of Support [MTSS] are not enough), we can expect results to be released later this month to reveal a continuing pattern of failure:
